Basic Requirements for Cargo Shipping Between Mainland China and Hong Kong
1. If a Mainland-Hong Kong cargo consigner ships a consignment containing numerous commodity names that cannot be fully listed on the waybill, or consigns household removal goods, or packages two or more types of goods together, three copies of a goods list shall be submitted.
2. The consigner shall bear full liability for the authenticity of all information entered on the cargo waybill and goods list. Any concealment or misdeclaration of commodity names or weights will result in the payment of liquidated damages as stipulated.
3. When consigning less-than-carload goods for Mainland-Hong Kong transportation, the consigner shall attach distinct and visible marks made of durable materials to each package. One mark shall be pasted or nailed to both ends of each item. Tied tags may be used if pasting or nailing is impractical for the packaging. For luggage and household removal goods, apart from external tags or markings made of cloth, wood, metal and other sturdy materials, an additional tag shall be placed inside the package. In accordance with national standards, the consigner shall affix proper packaging, handling and transportation symbols based on the characteristics of the goods. All irrelevant shipping marks and symbols on the packages must be removed or erased.
4. Mainland-Hong Kong Cargo Packaging Requirements: The consigner shall use transport packaging that complies with shipping standards, facilitates loading and unloading, and secures the goods. The packaging shall be selected with consideration given to the nature, weight, shipping mode, transit distance, climatic conditions and vehicle loading requirements.
